Argentina sets the maximum amount of formaldehyde in cosmetics

On February 3, 2023, the Argentine National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology issued Resolution No. 967/2023, prohibiting formaldehyde from being used as an active ingredient in hair straightening cosmetics. As a preservative in cosmetics, the maximum concentration is 0.2%, and as a nail hardener, the maximum concentration is 5%. This resolution will come into effect on the date of promulgation
