Formaldehyde
On February 3, 2023, the Argentine National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology issued Resolution No. 967/2023, prohibiting formaldehyde from being used as an active ingredient in hair straightening cosmetics.
China's National Institutes for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC) proposed adding 5-[(E)-2-phenylethenyl]-2-(propan-2-yl)benzene-1, 3-diol (Benvitimod, Tapinarof) (CAS No. 79338-84-4) as a prohibited component for cosmetics.
