A new regulatory act created by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority modifies the rules governing the UV filters benzophenone-3 and octocrylene in cosmetic products. When the overall concentration of formaldehyde emitted in the finished product exceeds 0.001%, all finished items that release formaldehyde must be labelled with the warning "releases formaldehyde". Benzophenone-3 and Octocrylene, which are specified under respective articles 4 and 10 in Annex VI to the cosmetics rule, are currently allowed as UV filters in cosmetic products.
