China publishes testing method standard for determination of presence of eight antifungal agents in cosmetics

On September 08, 2022, China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) released a new cosmetics supplementary testing method (BJH 202202: Determination of Eight Components Including Elubiol in Cosmetics) specifying the determination method of the eight prohibited ingredients (used for their antifungal properties) namely Elubiol, 5-Nitrobenzimidazole, 5-Chloro-1-methyl-4-nitroimidazole, Ornidazole, Tinidazole, Ipronidazole, Ronidazole and 1-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-2-Hydroxymethyl-5-Nitroimidazole.
