Rwanda formulates cosmetics standards involving 3 types of oil used as ingredients

On January 17, 2023, the Rwanda Bureau of Standards formulated three draft standards for oils and fats used in cosmetics, namely "Castor Oil Standard", "Macadamia Nut Oil Standard", and "Mineral Oil Standard for Cosmetic Industry". The comment period is until March 20, 2023. The main content includes: terms and definitions, general requirements; castor oil and macadamia nut oil should be free of foreign matter such as sediment, no water, no added coloring and flavoring substances, and must not be mixed with other oils; composition requirements of mineral oil; specific quality standards , Heavy metal limit requirements, packaging, labeling regulations, sampling methods and determination of various oils and fats, etc.
