NSF issues Guideline 527 on certified contents and claims for cosmetic and personal-care products

Guideline 527 was created by NSF, a firm with decades of expertise in nutritional supplement verification, to help strengthen the legitimacy of the cosmetics and personal care industry. The guideline provides a comprehensive programme that includes standardised definitions and criteria, label review, formulation requirements, ingredient identity, testing criteria, product purity and physical characterization, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance as per NSF/ANSI 455-3 and/or NSF/ANSI 455-4 . The goal of Guideline 527 is to reduce risk, reduce responsibility, distinguish goods from rivals, and increase consumer confidence in the personal care business.
