Through this call, interested parties will be given the opportunity to provide their opinions and thoughts as well as supplementary facts to back up their remarks.

Due to its potential for harming human health and the environment, 1,4-dioxane has sparked alarm. European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has started the consultation process in response to these worries so that interested parties may contribute their knowledge to the creation of Annex XV limitation dossiers and other pertinent documents.

Some cosmetic products include tiny amounts of the chemical 1,4-dioxane. Cosmetics do not contain it as an ingredient. As a by-product of producing cosmetic chemicals, 1,4-dioxane is produced.
All interested parties have until June 20, 2023, to submit their comments following the consultation period, which started on April 20, 2023. ECHA welcomes all stakeholders to actively engage in this request for comments and evidence if they have relevant information or viewpoints on 1,4-dioxane.

ECHA wants to ensure a thorough and inclusive evaluation of the issue by offering this consultation to parties that might not have been previously recognized or contacted. The conclusions and information gathered via this procedure will be very important in determining whether and how to impose limitations on 1,4-dioxane.
