Australia: AHPRA publishes independent review of cosmetic surgery regulatory regime in the country

An independent review of cosmetic surgery regulatory framework was conducted and recently published by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA) and the Medical Board of Australia (MBA). Professional bodies like Australian Medical Association showed satifaction with the review by reiterating their support for restricting the use of the title “surgeon” to those medical practitioners who have undertaken a significant surgical training program provided by an Australian Medical Council (AMC) accredited education provider.
