UK: CTPA Director-General predicts cosmetics industry trends for 2023

Director-General of the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA) of the UK has made some predictions for the UK cosmetics and personal care industry in 2023 analysing the regulatory and scientific developments underway which are expected to bring changes. Reporting requirements under Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) rules will come into play in 2023, which will incentivise more sustainable packaging and can give a boost to take-back schemes. Some concrete guidelines for accurate environment claims on products can be expected to be issued in 2023. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is expected to look into bringing more cosmetics safety related regulations in the backdrop of the Brexit. Also, promotion of Non Animal Methodologies (NAMs) is expected to get a major boost in 2023.
