Overview
Indonesia is one of the leading markets for cosmetic products in the Asian continent. The Indonesian Agency for Drug and Food Control, under the Indonesian Ministry of Health (otherwise called Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan (BPOM)), is responsible for cosmetic product registration in Indonesia. Cosmetic Registration can be done only if the applicants are enlisted as legal entities as per Indonesian Law and are regulated by the BPOM. Additionally, it is mandatory to have an import license to enroll the products through Indonesian customs. For foreign companies, local agents are required to obtain a license. Companies must ensure to obtain unique notification for each product placed in the Indonesian market. Although the notification process is carried out online, uploading detailed information about cosmetic products can sometimes become a daunting task for organizations. Upon successful cosmetic product registration in Indonesia, the BPOM provides a unique notification number to the companies within fourteen (14) days after payment validation.
Additionally, adhering to halal restrictions and other culturally oriented regulations becomes a challenge. To ease out the registration and market entry procedures for foreign manufacturers, Freyr supports organizations with a strategic and well-defined process for cosmetics registration in Indonesia and offers legal representation services in Indonesia. Our team of Regulatory experts is proven to guide applicants with accurate documentation, adept formulation review, labeling review, and other process-related services as per the BPOM Standards.
