Novel Crosslinked HA Hydrogel Films for the Immediate Release of Active Ingredients

News Date
December 27, 2022

In the past, new crosslinked hyaluronic acid (HA) hydrogel films were made by reacting the HA polymer with the PT (Pentaerythritol Tetra-acrylate) crosslinker in an oven with a basic pH. HA is a natural polymer that may be found in both cosmetic and medicinal applications. The present work sought to emphasise the influence of loading technique (post-loading and in situ) on the release kinetics of chosen actives (salicylic acid and niacinamide B3) in hydrogel films. Finally, the actives released from the HA hydrogel films within 10 minutes demonstrated that the films are an efficient rapid release mechanism of actives with a great potential for usage in aesthetic cosmetic applications.
