ICCS: Launch of a new global initiative concerning animal testing free cosmetics

To ensure that animal-free methods are accepted and promoted for cosmetics safety testing, more than 35 cosmetics manufacturers and suppliers, industry associations, and animal protection organisations around the globe announced the launch of the International Collaboration on Cosmetics Safety (ICCS) on 8 February 2023.

The International Council for Consumer Safety (ICCS) is tasked with supporting rigorous, scientific examination of novel animal-free safety assessment techniques to cosmetics and personal care product and ingredient innovation. It will also support education and training programmes to assist create trust in animal-free safety assessment methodologies, and it will share the outcomes of these evaluations with cosmetic and chemical authorities.
